Creative Arts Center of Dallas

ON CREATIVITY

September 2019 | NTxGD 2019

I still remember the first North Texas Giving Day in 2009 when the Communities Foundation of Texas computers crashed due to the overwhelming response of donors. Still $4 million was raised for 345 non-profits, including CAC. Last year, a phenomenal $48 million was raised for 2,690 non-profits! September 19 will mark the 11th year of NTGD and we are coming to you to ask for your support again!

At CAC, we believe the arts are transformative and a powerful tool for engaging communities. CAC has cultivated the creative potential of everyone it has served in our community for more than 50 years. We know that creative arts connect people for a common purpose while building trust, facilitating cooperation and giving over-looked communities a voice. Through our core classes and workshops accessible to everyone from teens to seniors as well as our various outreach programs, including ArtAbility, Art as a Second Language, Camp MetalHead and unseenamerica.

Thus, CAC is committed to strengthening our outreach programs with the goal for programs and collaborations that will allow participants to share their individualism and culture, promote vocational training outlets and allow under-served and marginalized communities the opportunity to re-imagine their place in the world. In the coming year, we plan to deepen our collaborations with the Austin Street Shelter, Booker T. Washington HSPVA, Café Momentum and The Bridge.

We are also focused on improving our core classes and workshops with a focus on increasing positive student experiences. Our Annual Juried Membership Show held each August at Mary Tomas Gallery in the Design District is one way in which we have served as an incubator for developing new artists. Our Process to Product exhibitions held on-site at CAC are the show shows that are dedicated to educating the public about the techniques, processes and applications of disciplines and mediums in the visual arts from inspiration to innovation.

We hope will join CAC in its effort to build a vibrant Dallas that harnesses the power of arts education and welcomes a diverse, connected and creative population. Visit
