Drawing the Face
Instructor: CAROLINE SHAW OMETZ
Learn to draw the human head in this fun and intense workshop. You will study the planes of the head and learn to draw each feature (eyes, nose and mouth) by comparing them with other features and learning their construction. Next you will do a self portrait by becoming aware of the light/dark patterns of your face. On the second day you will apply your new knowledge by drawing a model. You will also learn how to draw the head looking up/down and left/right. Because we naturally process the face with our right brain, the human face is an excellent subject to help you become more creative in your ‘seeing’ as an artist. No drawing experience necessary. Please bring a lunch.

Life Drawing with Printmaking Techniques
Instructor: SUSAN GILLER
If you love life drawing and printmaking then this is the class for you. Taught by drawing artist Susan Giller and printmaker Terri Thoman, the class is designed to expand the definition of drawing. Working from a live model, we begin the exploration by warming up with traditional drawing methods, (pencil or charcoal on paper) and then move onto a new medium, drawing into a metal plate. You will discover the sensual line created by simply scratching the surface of the plate. These images will be printed onto rag paper and the first day you will walk away with a fine art print of your drawing. The second day will continue the exploration with monotype printing, a new way to look at drawing. Instead of charcoal and paper, we will be working with water-based ink on a Plexiglass surface. The emphasis again is on exploring new media: the results are usually wonderful surprises. Please bring your drawing supplies of choice; printmaking materials will be supplied. Please bring a lunch.

Argentium® Silver Workshop
Instructor: PATRICIA TSCHETTER
How would you like to make beautiful white-hot silver jewelry without the firescale? Would you like the ability to fuse silver and even granulate with it without a kiln? What if you could greatly reduce or eliminate tarnish from silver? If you said “yes” to any of these questions then you need to learn how to use this new proprietary sterling silver.
Argentium ® generally behaves like conventional sterling silver except for a few exceptions. This workshop will teach you how to work with Argentium ® and these exceptions. Argentium ® was formulated to eliminate firescale, the purplish “stain” that conventional sterling silver creates when overheated. Let’s face it: most everyone overheats sterling silver! Argentium ® also resists tarnish and can be work-hardened in a conventional oven. We will cover the following: Annealing, Soldering,Fusing/Granulating, Work Hardening and Finishing/Polishing/Patinas. This workshop is appropriate for anyone with basic metalsmithing skills (sawing, soldering, sanding experience). Please bring a lunch
